Euro 2024: England fans sing Ten German Bombers in Frankfurt

UK police have claimed that three England fans have been arrested by their German counterparts ahead of the Three Lions' Euro 2024 group stage clash with Denmark, after the city of Frankfurt was taken over by travelling England supporters and controversial chants of 'Ten German bombers' were heard.

Approximately 1,000 fans were crammed into the Frankfurt square on Wednesday evening, having travelled from Gelsenkirchen where ugly scenes saw a bar smashed up before the opening 1-0 win over Serbia.

British police have confirmed to Sky News that three England fans have been arrested, but the "vast majority of England fans" are "behaving extremely well".

However, one fan was arrested for throwing a bottle, another for abusing a British police officer and a third fan for throwing a missile at police and being in possession of drugs.

Gelsenkirchen police previously confirmed that no arrests of England fans were made after Hirt Steakhouse was the stage of fans throwing chairs and needing to be disbursed by officers.

Seven arrests were made in total, all Serbian nationals, as England supporters were praised by officials.

There was a heavy police presence in Frankfurt on Wednesday to accommodate fans of Harry Kane and co, with shards of broken glass bottles on the floor and pro-Tommy Robinson songs sung.

As seen by the Daily Express, one fan was handcuffed but then released after a 'scuffle' in the city centre, as an officer said it had been a "peaceful day".

England’s fixture against Denmark on Thursday has been classified as ‘high risk’ but alcohol restrictions have been relaxed for the game compared to the opener against Serbia.

England kick off their second fixture of the tournament at 5.00pm and victory would all but secure Gareth Southgate's side a place in the knockout stages.
