Borussia Dortmund's sporting director Sebastian Kehl has confirmed that discussions will take place with Manchester United and Chelsea regarding the potential of extending Jadon Sancho and Ian Maatsen's stays beyond this summer.

Sancho was loaned to the Bundesliga heavyweights in January after finding himself sidelined under Erik ten Hag at United. The forward only made three appearances for the Red Devils this season before being dropped from the squad.

He returned to Dortmund in January, having left them in 2021, and has since regained his early career form. Despite netting just three times in 17 matches, the England international has been instrumental in Dortmund's journey to the Champions League semi-finals.

Meanwhile, Maatsen has impressed at Dortmund, putting in an accomplished display at left-back to help his side reach the final - where they will face either Bayern Munich or Real Madrid.

And last night prior to their secong leg win over PGS, Kehl provided a bit more insight into the likelihood of the pair emaining at Dortmund for the 2024/25 season.

When questioned about the prospect of signing Sancho and Maatsen on permanent deals on TNT Sport, he stated: "We will see. They are on loan, both of them, but at the end we need to make any decisions.

"They are under contract with their clubs so it means we will, at a specific point, get in touch and see if it is possible or not. I know that the players are welcome at Dortmund, they feel at home, especially Jadon, he knows our club pretty well.

"I think it was quite a good decision to take them in the winter, but again this is something for the future."
