may be sweating on the fitness of forward after he was seen hobbling after the Red Devils’ FA Cup victory over Coventry at Wembley Stadium. Rashford was substituted in added time at the end of an epic semi-final.

The England international helped United take a 3-0 lead before capitulating in the second half. Championship side Coventry scored three times to force extra-time.

Rashford did not make it into the extended period, though, having been replaced by Amad Diallo in the 97th minute. It was initially thought that Rashford’s withdrawal was simply tactical but it now appears that the attacker was injured.

Footage taken in the mixed zone shows Rashford hobbling out of Wembley. may worry that the 26-year-old could be a doubt for Wednesday’s Premier League clash with Sheffield United at Old Trafford.

An injury crisis has decimated Ten Hag’s squad in recent weeks, with Casemiro forced to play as a centre-back in Sunday’s win over Coventry. The United boss claims to have only been able to pick from a fully fit squad once during his two-year reign - for a 2-1 win over Manchester City in January 2023.

Rashford has endured an underwhelming season but has contributed to United’s run to the FA Cup final. Rasmus Hojlund’s penalty secured a win over Coventry on spot-kicks and United will face Manchester City in the showdown next month.

Ten Hag admitted he had contrasting emotions after the game having been disappointed by the way his players allowed their 3-0 lead slip. The 54-year-old said: "It's mixed feelings. The way we did it isn't OK.

"We should have managed it better but it's a huge performance. If you analyse the game we controlled 75 minutes but then allowed them to return into the game.

"I have to give a compliment to the opponent. They believed but we allowed them. We should have managed it better.

"I don't think heads dropped but we had many setbacks and maybe it's human but it's not acceptable. We have to show resilience. By the end we did show resilience and determination to win the shootout. When you are so in control you should win easily."

Ten Hag remains under pressure after a disappointing campaign and the performance against Coventry will likely raise further questions over his suitability to continue beyond the summer. With Champions League qualification now a distant possibility, lifting the FA Cup is United’s only chance of a semblance of success.
