"Yes, of course I'm enjoying the Premier League but obviously I don't like our place in the standings, not at all,” Fernandez told DAZN Portugal. “I don't like that place, I like to win, not losing. And seeing ourselves in that position angers me and my teammates. But we have to accept it's a process and let's hope next season will be much better for us."

Despite the £1billion-plus invested in players by and co, Fernandez is aware that many of his fellow new signings are young players with bags of potential. However, sometimes that talent needs to be nurtured before it excels on the biggest stage and Pochettino knows that his squad need to learn from such a blockbuster evening.

“Football is about to entertain and spectacle, to score goals, to feel the passion, the team needs to translate to the fans,” the Argentine said in his post-match press conference. “The fans will be connected with the team with the way the team started the game today.

“We always want that. I like to score goals. I don't like to concede goals, like today. We are one of the youngest teams in Europe. We need to grow from this sort of experience.”

But Pochettino will be buoyed that one of his key players in Fernandez is not getting carried away with the ecstasy of such a late comeback and instead remains focused on the task at hand, putting Chelsea back towards the top of the table.
