brutally blasted a TNT Sports viewer's comment live on-air during a time-burning segment ahead of Wednesday's fixtures. As Laura Woods, Joe Cole and Ferdinand looked at viewers' bold opinions sent in via X (formerly Twitter), the final entry irked the legend.

Atletico Madrid welcome Inter Milan to the Wanda Metropolitano, while the Westfalenstadion plays host to Borussia Dortmund's clash with PSV Eindhoven for the final two spots in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Woods hosted TNT Sports' coverage of Atleti vs Inter, in which the visitors boast a 1-0 advantage after Marko Arnautovic's second-half winner in the San Siro first leg.

During the first part of the programme, punditry duo Cole and Ferdinand discussed viewers' bold opinions on social media.

As the segment neared its end, Woods said: "Anyway... I've got one more for you! A one-match ban for missing a penalty, which I thought was very harsh, but it kind of made me laugh a little bit."

Then, a post from X user @DannyBGreen appeared on the screen, reading: "Players should get a one-match ban for missing the target on a penalty."

He added: "Honourable mention: clubs should fine players a week's wages for hitting the first man with a corner."

Ferdinand took the lead with his reaction to the first part of the comment, and the 45-year-old didn't take too kindly to a light-hearted suggestion to ban players for bad penalties.

"Players should get a one-match ban for missing the target... that's just stupid," Ferdinand recited before interrupting himself to unleash his thoughts about the post.

"You get someone who has never, ever played football at any level playing with two fans watching and his dog. As soon as people are watching, everything changes."

Cole agreed with Ferdinand's stance by repeatedly saying "yep" before Woods laughed it off and continued with TNT Sports' coverage.

The ex-United centre-back took part in his fair share of penalty shoot-outs throughout his illustrious football career before hanging up his boots in 2015.

He was most famously involved in the 2008 Champions League final shootout, in which the Red Devils defeated Premier League rivals Chelsea to earn a third European crown in Moscow.

Since retirement, Ferdinand has established himself as one of the UK's most popular pundits. He works for multiple organisations to analyse club football and international tournaments.

The six-time Premier League winner also helms a successful YouTube channel, FIVE, which boasts over one million followers.
