Man Utd flop Jadon Sancho hits new low as Borussia Dortmund boss deals public snub

Jadon Sancho has suffered the latest blow in a disastrous season after Borussia Dortmund head coach Edin Terzic admitted he isn't able to play in his preferred position. The 23-year-old has spent most of his career as a winger, but Terzic has claimed he is third in the pecking order for his favourite position, central attacking midfield.

Sancho left Dortmund for Manchester United in a £73million deal in 2021 and was expected to solve the club's long-standing right-wing dilemma.

However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer soon learned that he, in fact, preferred to operate on the left than the right, where he shone as one of Europe's most exciting wingers in Germany.

Sancho never got going at United, registering 12 goals and six assists in 82 appearances, 74 of which he started on either flank.

He appeared to find a new lease of life after returning to Dortmund on loan in January, ending a four-month first-team banishment at Carrington due to a public row with Erik ten Hag.

But after providing two assists in his first two appearances back at the Black and Yellows, Sancho hasn't impressed across his eight outings, six of them starts.

When asked about the England international this week, Terzic revealed that his struggles are partly due to not playing in his actual preferred role.

Despite his widespread reputation as a winger, Sancho apparently wants to play in the No. 10 role, almost always occupied by captain Bruno Fernandes at United.

"[Sancho] said very confidently that his favourite number [position] is 10 [central attacking midfield]," Terzic explained on Thursday.

"We know that it can be used very flexibly. But Julian Brandt and Marco Reus did really well in the ten."

Terzic also admitted that Sancho lacked match sharpness was also negatively impacting his performance.
