Boston Red Sox fans are shocked as Netflix plans to film the team for the 2024 season. The MLB franchise are owned by John Henry's Fenway Sports Group (FSG), who also own Premier League title contenders Liverpool.

The Red Sox, who had a tough time with 78 wins and 84 losses just like in 2022, haven't won the World Series since 2018. Now, when the team isn't doing too well, Netflix will be filming them.
"It wasn't necessarily going to be about the Red Sox. It was just more of the importance of getting baseball into this medium, these sort of doc series and global platform opportunities," said Red Sox chief marketing officer Adam Grossman.
Red Sox president/CEO Sam Kennedy added: "This is one of the largest marketing initiatives we have ever undertaken. When we formally began discussing this opportunity nearly 18 months ago, we stressed to our players that the decision to pursue this project would ultimately be up to them. I am proud of our players, [manager] Alex Cora, and our baseball operations leadership for having the courage to embrace such a project and open our clubhouse and Fenway Park to a truly global audience."
Even the coaches and players seem happy about working with Netflix. "We’re going to embrace this experience from the very first day of filming to the last," coach Alex Cora admitted.
"This is an incredible opportunity for the entire Red Sox organization, but I’m most excited about what this means for our players. Netflix will be able to magnify their stories in a way Major League Baseball has never seen.”
However, many fans aren't on board with the Red Sox's decision to give Netflix behind-the-scenes access, considering the franchise's recent slump. "On one hand, I'm excited that the world will get to see the Red Sox on a national stage," a fan started. "On the other hand, I'm worried that the world will get to see these Red Sox on a national stage."

Another added: "Exactly, of all the years to give full access, it's one of the years fans are least interested in decades. Terrible timing, IMO (in my opinion)."
Boston will undertake a heavy spring training schedule to prepare themselves for the 2024 MLB campaign. Across February and most of March, the Red Sox will play 34 warm-up games before opening their season against the Seattle Mariners on March 28.
