Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis has recalled sacking Rudi Garcia earlier this season.
ADL hired and fired Garcia within months after to replace Scudetto-winning coach Luciano Spalletti following his decision to step down.
At a book presentation, he said: "I hear things said that if I were a coach I would sue, given that he was given a bad name.
"I believe Garcia was the best coach in Ligue 1 in the past, he arrived at Roma and finished second twice, with ten consecutive victories on his debut in Serie A. Then he was sacked in his third season, with a dressing room that was not easy to manage. In 2017/18 he made the Europa League final with Marseille, losing to Atletico Madrid.
"In 2019/20 he made the Champions League semi-final with Lyon, eliminating Juventus.
"What did he do wrong? When on the day of the presentation he said that he hadn't seen Napoli's matches, I didn't believe him. But then I realised that he wasn't using his new purchases and that he wanted to continue on his path.
"I gave him some chances, so as not to send him away immediately, since otherwise it would have been said that De Laurentiis always does as he wants.
"Why did I dismiss him? Because the last match, the one against Empoli, I pointed out to him that in my opinion he was making a mistake and he replied 'let me do it'. If someone responds like that you either tell them to f*** off right away or shut up.
"During the break I went down to the locker room and said to him 'what the f*** are you doing? Do you really want to get sacked?'. And in the end that's exactly what happened to him. Once the match was over I told him to f*** off."
