Alisha Lehmann's 'wet-look' kit changed as Aston Villa receive new shirts from Castore

Aston Villa have reportedly received a new batch of shirts from supplier Castore in the hope of amending the ‘wet-look’ design that had prompted complaints among the club’s playing staff. Several stars from across the men’s and women’s teams had raised concerns about the stretchy style, with Alisha Lehmann infamously appearing sodden in a match earlier this season.

The problem with the 'wet-look' kit was particularly noticeable during the warmer weather earlier in the campaign. Villa's shorts would appear drenched as they absorbed sweat - a bizarre look when there was no rain.

It is an issue that has not been picked up quite so clearly in recent weeks due to the cooler weather. However, reports claim that the predicament has persisted and Castore promised to deal with the issue.

In September, the sportswear brand promised to "address the issue as quickly as possible to meet the standards we expect". A new batch of shirts were reportedly finally sent to Villa's training ground by the company last week.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the new shirts were not worn for either of Villa's victories over Manchester City or Arsenal last week. They will supposedly not be on show in Thursday's Conference League clash with Zrinjski Mostar, nor against Brentford in the Premier League next weekend.

However, the new shirts could make an appearance after Villa's trip to west London if the club receive the technical details of the shirts and are happy with them. Castore accepted full responsibility for the issue but reportedly believed that the issue was caused by an imbalance related to the way the BK8 sponsorship logo had been printed onto the front of the shirts.

It is speculated that the superstitious nature of some footballers and Villa's incredible run could lead to some stars insisting on continuing with the old shirts. Villa's men's team have embarked on an incredible Premier League title charge and sit third in the top-flight, ahead of reigning champions Man City.

Both City and Arsenal have been swept aside in recent weeks during Villa's 15-match winning run at Villa Park. They have also qualified for the knockout stages of the Europa Conference League.
