Villarreal coach Marcelino was satisfied with their Europa League stalemate with Maccabi Haifa.
While frustrated not to win, the 0-0 result leaves Villarreal with the chance to qualify for the knockout round if they can beat Rennes.
Marcelino said: "We always have to win and if not, show the most, which is our obligation. Today we are far from our best level. The rival made many changes, it seemed like it was going to be simple, but nothing is simple in football.
"You have to demonstrate arguments, then be right. But today we didn't have our best version. And I don't like it when that doesn't happen. We have a nice chance to win. Relying on a draw is no longer possible. It's a lesson.
"We were coming off a very good streak. The best news is that the rival didn't give us any chances and that we kept a clean sheet."
He added: "Yes, if you keep a clean sheet you are closer to winning. In general we have started well, but we have been infected by a cold environment and we have all stayed cold.
"I think we should have done more. For us, for our fans. And I am happy with the attitude of my players, but we have been far from our best version."
