Premier League clubs raise Saudi concerns in meeting amid fears over transfer payments

VFL Stuttgart star Serhou Guirassy is the most-inform striker in Europe currently, much to the disappointment of . The Toffees desperately attempted to sign the forward in 2022 but, despite the best efforts of director of football Kevin Thelwell, they were unable to strike a deal.

Everton secured their first three points of the season over the weekend when they beat 3-1 in a significant victory for Sean Dyche’s side. Heading into the match, the Toffees had scored just twice in the - both goals coming against - and lacked any sort of cutting edge in the final third.

However, goals from Abdoulaye Doucoure, James Tarkowski and Dominic Calvert-Lewin saw Everton cruise past the Bees at the Gtech Community Stadium. But the three-goal win may only paper the cracks in Dyche’s squad in the short-term, especially in the final third.

Summer signing Beto has led the line well for Everton since his £26million arrival from Udinese, but his failure to find the back of the net in three appearances has left supporters questioning where goals will come from if they slip into another relegation battle.

Everton will therefore be ruing their failure to sign Guirassy whilst he was at Stade Rennes. The Toffees were in talks with the Ligue 1 club in 2022 but failed to strike a deal for their top target after their loan-to-buy approach was rebuffed.

Stade Rennes made it clear that they would allow Guirassy to leave the club but only on a permanent deal so that the departure could fund a shopping spree, and Stuttgart eventually swooped in to pinch the striker from under the noses of Everton.

Erling Haaland

The 27-year-old scored 11 goals last season but has kickstarted the new campaign in sensational form with 10 goals and one assist in five appearances, making him the most in-form striker in Europe, above the likes of , and Victor Osimhen.

Given his electric start to the campaign, numerous clubs are now keeping an eye on Guirassy to see how he progresses over the coming months before the race to secure his signature begins in January. However, whether Everton have missed their opportunity remains to be seen given the significant finances that will be involved in luring him away from the and the fee that they forked out for Beto previously.
