England players are reportedly struggling to keep in regular contact with their family and friends due to the poor internet connection they have in Qatar. The players’ families are staying on a cruise ship, which is making their Wi-Fi unstable as well.Related articles Callum Wilson almost missed England call-up in funny World Cup gaffe Brazil give Neymar ankle injury update and set World Cup timeframe
The Three Lions kicked off their Qatar World Cup campaign in the right way on Monday with a 6-2 win over Iran. The win has planted the seed for many England fans to start believing that their trophy drought could be over this winter.
However, they may not be able to enjoy the victory – and future ones, potentially – with their families as much as they would like. According to the Daily Mail, the team are struggling to stay in touch with loved ones because of the ‘unstable’ internet.
Some players are complaining that their talks with family members are being ‘cut off mid-conversation’ when in the team hotel. The majority of the players’ loved ones are staying on a cruise ship, though the FA are debating as to whether they should allow there to be reunions.
The cruise ship that the families are currently living on is still open to the public meaning that they are at risk that they are coming into contact with those infected with Covid. The FA are therefore fearful that players meeting up with their partners and children could lead to an outbreak amongst the squad and thus derail their chances of progressing through the tournament.
It is reported that it was pencilled into the diary for England players to spend a day with their family members this weekend, following their match against the USA on Friday night. However, the FA are yet to greenlight the plan and is wary of the worst-case scenario.

Asked about the scheduled meet-ups, Southgate said: “Well, we're going to see how the next few days go and we've talked about maybe looking at something after the second game, but we've got to monitor what the rates out here are as much as anything else.
“We're going to have to monitor it throughout, but there's this balance of the spirit and happiness of the group and the medical line of zero risk, and sometimes if you're going to take zero risks it can kill it for everybody, so we've got to try to find that balance.” The World Cup campaign is certainly a very different international tournament to that of the Euro 2020, held largely in England.Related articles Ronaldo fans all mock Messi after Portugal beat Ghana at World Cup Harry Maguire confirms England will make OneLove gesture at World Cup Richarlison scores 'one of Brazil's best ever goals' to rock Serbia
