Manchester United will now allow Eric Bailly to leave the club on loan, according to reports. Erik ten Hag has a big couple of weeks ahead of him in the transfer market. United need to make some crucial additions to the squad after losing their first two Premier League games of the season.
But there are also a host of players who could be on their way out of Old Trafford. Bailly is way down the pecking order among the central defenders at the club.
Captain Harry Maguire, new signing Lisandro Martinez, as well as Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof, are all ahead of him. Bailly has not been in the squad for the matches against Brighton and Brentford.
And it appears his exit could be made easier. French outlet Foot Mercato says United initially wanted to sell Bailly, who has a contract at the club until 2024 with the option of a further year.
However, United are now set to permit a loan exit for the defender. Marseille are said to be interested in Bailly, as are Monaco.
Bailly joined United from Villarreal in 2016 for a fee of around £30million. However, the majority of his time at the club has been ravaged by injury problems.
He has struggled to get a regular place back in the side despite being fit. Bailly has felt he deserved more of a chance last season, especially with the struggles Maguire had in particular.

However, it appears he is not part of Ten Hag's plans going forward. The change in stance from United shows a clear plan from Ten Hag that he wants to get rid of unwanted players in any way possible.
Bailly is far from the only player who could be on his way out of the club. Fellow defenders Phil Jones and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are both up for sale. Young midfielder James Garner could also be sold, with Everton interested in the 21-year-old.
Cristiano Ronaldo could be the most high-profile exit. He wants to play in the Champions League this season and United are looking at potential striker replacements for the Portugal superstar.
United were initially keen to keep Ronaldo for this season. But they are now more open to letting him leave before the deadline on September 1.
