Cage the Elephant

The alt-rock band Cage the Elephant is bringing its “Neon Pill” tour to the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre, 5150 S. 6055 West, West Valley City, on Thursday. The band is known for such hits as “Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked” and “Mess Around”; its newest album, “Neon Pill,” was released in May. Also on the bill are: Young the Giant, Bakar and Willow Avalon. Show starts at 6:30 p.m. Tickets available at livenation.com.

June 21

Twilight series starts

The Salt Lake City Twilight Concert Series kicks off its 2024 season on Friday, headlined by the Icelandic-Chinese singer singer Laufey, who mixes classical and jazz into her work. The supporting acts are Grace Enger and Anna Beck. The show starts at 6 p.m. at the Gallivan Center, 239 S. Main, Salt Lake City. The show is sold out, but resale tickets are available at 24Tix.com.

For Coach Mac

A benefit concert for The Ron McBride Foundation is happening Saturday in The Lot at The Complex, 538 W. 100 South, Salt Lake City. Headlining the show is country-folk singer-songwriter Ryan Bingham his band, The Texas Gentlemen. Bingham is known for his Oscar-winning song “The Weary Kind” (sung by Jeff Bridges in “Crazy Heart”), and for his roles in “Crazy Heart” and TV’s “Yellowstone.” Also performing are Drayton Farley and Taulia Lave. The concert starts at 7 p.m.; the pre-party (with food trucks, a mechanical bull, and autographs from University of Utah and Brigham Young University players and coaches) starts at 5 p.m. The Ron McBride Foundation, started by the former U. of Utah football coach, supports afterschool programs for at-risk youth in Title 1 schools. Tickets are available at thecomplexslc.com.
