A mainland woman reportedly fell victim to a fraudulent Alipay scheme in Macau, losing RMB245,000. The incident occurred Nov. 11 when the victim received a call from someone claiming to be an Alipay representative. The caller stated that her registered identity information needed updating and instructed her to follow a web link. Believing the claims, the victim transferred her entire bank balance of RMB245,000 to a designated account. After the transfer, she grew suspicious and reported the incident to the police.
