China’s Sun Yingsha made history at the ITTF Men’s and Women’s World Cup Macao 2024 by clinching the prestigious Women’s Single gold medal and the Hammarlund Cup yesterday. Sun Yingsha and Wang Manyu, two exceptional Chinese players, showcased their determination and tenacity in their debut at the Women’s World Cup.

World No.1 Sun clinched victory with a hard-fought 4-3 triumph (8-11, 5-11, 11-4, 5-11, 11-8, 11-5, 11-9). This thrilling final that went all the way, showcased the incredible talent and resilience of both players, with Sun making up for her 2020 Women’s World Cup final loss. China has now emerged victorious in all 24 out of 25 Women’s World Cup titles since it’s debut in 1996 in Hong Kong.

Meanwhile, Ma Long secures third Men’s World Cup title as he emerged victorious as the champion of the ITTF Men’s World Cup.

Defeating his compatriot Lin Gaoyuan in an intense gold medal match, the World No. 4 secured his third Men’s World Cup title.

The rivalry between Ma Long and Lin Gaoyuan, who have faced each other nine times on the international stage, was once again on display, showcasing their deep understanding of each other’s playing styles.
