Crowds of citizens and tourists gathered along Victoria Harbour on Tuesday for the New Year's Eve fireworks display. Crowd control measures were in place with a number of exits at Tsim Sha Tsui and East Tsim Sha Tsui MTR stations temporarily closed. Some mainland tourists were excited for the fireworks display. They also found the countdown celebrations in Hong Kong “lively”. The 12-minute show will cover a distance of 1,300 metres from Central to North Point. The fireworks will be launched at different heights and angles by five barges and 16 pontoons, arranged in two rows on the harbour. Service hours at the Lo Wu Control Point will be extended to 2am, while the Shenzhen Bay Control Point will stay open throughout the night, to facilitate tourist flows.
