Students prepared to raise their game with the Sinopec-donated training hub

Funded by Sinopec and after months of planning to engage teachers and students, the brand-new, custom-made Sinopec Training Hub at the Hong Kong Sea School welcomed hundreds of guests at a recently held inaugurating ceremony.

The 400-square-metre hub occupies the ground floor of the school’s multi-purpose annex. Boasting a versatile configuration, it houses some three dozen equipment items and is all set to serve the school’s 700 students. The facilities can accommodate up to 50 students at a time under the watchful eye of a physical education teacher. Sinopec Training Hub is the first comprehensive physical fitness training centre in the school’s 78 years of history.

Hosted by the Hong Kong Sea School situated in the Stanley waterfront to honour the support of Sinopec, the auspicious ceremony was officiated by Dr Karl Kwok, Vice-President of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, and attended by key officials of various departments of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Regional Government, namely the Marine Department, the Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department, the Hong Kong Fire Services Department, the Hong Kong Police Force, the Hong Kong Correctional Services Department, and the Education Bureau. Also present at the ceremony were members of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, the Hong Kong Sea School’s incorporated management committee, and the management and staff members of Sinopec Hong Kong. 

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Jiang Zhenying, Deputy Chief Economist of Sinopec Group and Chief Representative of Sinopec Hong Kong Office, praised the contribution of the Hong Kong Sea School, noting that the school has nurtured talents for Hong Kong across industries and sectors.
