Asia's largest cruise ship, the Spectrum of the Seas, docked at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal on Friday morning, with passengers saying they were satisfied with the onward transport arrangements. The ship, which had departed from Shanghai, was carrying about 5,000 passengers. The authorities strengthened transport services at the terminal, which included additional bus routes and shuttle services to various MTR stations. Two passengers from Germany said they were satisfied with the arrangements. “It's very organised here and everybody can help you,” they told RTHK. “We stay two days in Hong Kong and then we fly home. It's a short stay. We bookmarked on the Victoria Peak or so, and then SoHo.” Staff were seen giving out LPG coupons to taxi drivers who picked up passengers at the terminal. There was a short queue at the taxi stop, but a traveller from Australia said this wasn’t a problem. “It's okay so far. It’s been quite smooth. We're staying at the Disneyland Resort, so there'll be quite a bit of time spent there. Our daughter and grandson will be meeting us,” he said. But a British tourist said she did not know that most taxis only accept cash for payment. “We’re going to take a taxi to the train station, and it’s got to be Hong Kong dollars… doesn’t say that anywhere, and there’s no ATM to get money, so it’s not really good at all,” she said. The ship is scheduled to depart for Japan on Friday afternoon. Hong Kong will be the vessel's seasonal home port, and the cruise line is expected to double its home port sailings to 10 next year.
