Frozen 2 shatters China's box office take
Disney's Frozen 2 is gearing up for an ice-shattering opening in China as it continues to lead the box office, according to the China Movie Data Information Network. The film grossed 500 million yuan ($18.61 million) within nine days of opening. In the new animated musical fantasy film, the characters Anna and Elsa travel to an ancient enchanted forest to find the origin of Elsa's powers and save their kingdom. With viewer ratings of 9 on Maoyan and 7.3 on Douban, reviews and audience reaction have been good for Frozen 2. It is the sequel to the first Frozen film released in 2013, which won Academy Awards for best animated feature film and best original song, the popular Let It Go.
