Police have arrested a 36-year-old man on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and robbery, after an off-duty sergeant was attacked and had his wallet snatched in Jordan. The incident happened in the small hours of Saturday on Nathan Road near Wing On Plus department store. Senior Inspector So Man-ho said the victim got into a scuffle with the suspect after realising his wallet had been stolen. “The victim identified himself as a police officer, but the man attacked his neck and limbs multiple times with a sharp object. The victim tried several times to stop the assault but failed," So said. "Another passerby attempted to intervene, and filmed the incident with his phone. The attacker fled empty-handed,” he added. The sergeant was treated at Queen Elizabeth Hospital and was discharged on the same day. Officers on Saturday arrested the attacker, who is a foreign man on a temporary entry permit, at his home in Hung Hom.
