HK market treads water at open of trade

Hong Kong shares barely moved at the open on Thursday as investors returned from a midweek break to a warning from the Federal Reserve that interest rates would likely stay higher for longer. The Hang Seng Index inched down just over 2 points to 17,760. Mainland Chinese markets are closed for the Golden Week holiday. (AFP)
