Art Central back at the harbourfront from Thursday

Art Central returns to the Central Harbourfront on Thursday, with the focus this year on contemporary art. At the opening ceremony on Wednesday, Art Central's fair director, Corey Andrew Barr, said he expects the event will attract thousands of people. "Art Central's art and programmes will touch the lives of thousands of visitors, from art collectors to the art-loving public," he said. "Placed in Hong Kong front and centre, we feature over 50 exceptional local artists this year, and over 30 galleries from the city. This is the most anywhere during Hong Kong Art Week." Among the local artists is Ho Sin-tung, whose installation was inspired by her passion for martial arts. "I just wish that people can just have a glimpse of what Hong Kong artists are doing. We are doing a lot of interesting things apart from just making pure art. This is just opening a window for the audience to know better," Ho told RTHK. As well as local galleries, around 60 overseas galleries will take part in the event. Art Central will run until Sunday, with single-day tickets costing from HK$175.
