NBA star, animation giant to join 'Wealth for Good'

A basketball superstar and the founder of one of the world's most famous animation studios are among the speakers lined up for Hong Kong's Wealth for Good summit next week. NBA champion and former Miami Heat ace Dwyane Wade will participate in a fireside chat on the "Rise of Sports as an Asset Class" at the discussion on Wednesday, along with NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks former co-owner Marc Lasry. Jeffrey Katzenberg, who helped set up the studio Dreamworks and also served as chairman of Walt Disney Studios, will join a chat entitled "Journey from Hollywood to Silicon Valley". Katzenberg was the producer of a number of major animated franchises including Shrek, Madagascar, and Kung Fu Panda. With a theme of "Growing with Certainty Amid Growing Uncertainty", the second edition of the summit is set to feature some 20 speakers and participants from Asia, Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East. A member of Dubai's ruling family, executives from businesses including BYD, XPeng, and Jollibee and a director of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation are also taking part in a series of panel discussions. This year's event will focus on four key topics, including luxury and legacy, green tech, philanthropy, as well as a session on creating generational wealth. Organisers from the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau and InvestHK hoped the summit would encourage family offices to do business in the SAR.
