Vienna's Best Hotels and Top Suites
Vienna's Best Hotels and Top Suites

Overview
Vienna is a city for all seasons, and always a cup of coffee. From its Christmas markets to the famous Balls, there is never a shortage of things to do. There is also no shortage of grand suites for your stay, and in this issue you’ll be dazzled by the very special accommodations at Vienna’s best hotels.
1. Park Hyatt Vienna
Conde Nast Traveler says, “In a city where almost everything seems like a monument, the Park Hyatt, grand and magnificent, fits right in. That is not to say the smart hotel, flanked by churches and palaces on Vienna's central Am Hof square, does not stand out. If anything, its columned façade, where men in top hats are at the ready to open the doors, carry bags in or wish guests a good day, is the most eye-catching on this regal street. Inside is equally as magnificent.”
The magazine continues, "But the public spaces are what makes us want to book this hotel for every trip. Off the entrance, a humidor and cigar bar channel Vienna's old-world glamour with its wood paneling, Scotch-heavy drinks trolley and comfortable club chairs. The hotel bar is one of the hottest we have seen in years, with a back-lit liquor display that climbs higher than the potted trees that dot the space...The serenely beautiful underground pool, with Roman-style carvings and underwater classical music, is the perfect place to work it all off in the morning.”
Royal Penthouse Suite
The 8,900-sq.ft. Royal Penthouse Suites covers two floors, features its own fully equipped fitness room, private elevator, and four spacious terraces with panoramic views over the city center.

2. Hotel Sacher Wien
The Telegraph reports, “Hotel Sacher is the only family-run top-class luxury hotel in Vienna and it remains a symbol of 19th-century European high society with a legacy of impeccable service. It's best known for the secret recipe of its chocolate cake, but it also benefits from a historical ambience, excellent restaurant and central location…Sacher opened its doors in 1876 and to this day has retained its historical ambience, even with multiple renovations. In recent years that has included complementary interior design elements such as new carpeting, upholstery and fabrics, and the addition of two extra floors to create more rooms and a spa area.”
Forbes Travel Guide adds, “Sumptuous, refined and spacious, each room or suite in Hotel Sacher is slightly different, staying true to the architectural layout of the original building.”
Madame Butterfly Suite
The nearly 2,000-sq.ft. Madame Butterfly Suite offers nearly 360-degree views of Vienna. It features a large anteroom, a drawing-room, a dining and a conference room, oversize bedroom, dressing-room, office and a luxurious art-deco bathroom as well as a separate guest toilet.

3. Hotel Imperial, A Luxury Collection Hotel
U.S. News reports, “This hotel makes a bold first impression. Its grand white illuminated facade is reminiscent of a palace – that's because it was originally built as a royal residence in 1863 before it transitioned to a luxury property 10 years later. The rooms at this property feature elegant decor, including silk wall coverings, crystal chandeliers and marble bathrooms, plus tech amenities.”
Forbes Travel Guide says, “Renowned for its history of hosting celebrity guests and famous writers, Hotel Imperial, A Luxury Collection Hotel is a mainstay in Vienna. A former private palace, the hotel impresses right at the entrance, where the sparkling glimmer of 14 chandeliers, a bouquet of fresh flowers rotating in the glass doorway and attentive footmen to usher you to a red velvet and gold-gilded settee await before you even check in. The Imperial earned its reputation throughout the 20th century as the preferred hotel of international celebrities such as Sigmund Freud and Charlie Chaplin and has kept it right on up to today, hosting stars like the Rolling Stones, Alfred Hitchcock, Michael Jackson and Lady Gaga.”
Royal Suites
The twin Royal Suites bring the style of Schönbrunn Palace with 50-feet high ceilings, stucco decorations, double doors and elaborate inlaid parquet flooring, offering an ideal setting for formal functions, banquets or exclusive presentations. They can be combined with adjacent rooms to form a 5,000-sq.ft. private enclave.

4. The Ritz-Carlton, Vienna
Forbes Travel Guide writes, “The Ritz-Carlton, Vienna sits elegantly upon the famous Ringstrasse, offering a luxurious city retreat close to the Musikverein and Vienna State Opera...The historic 19th-century architecture throughout the former palais (technically it’s four heritage-protected palaces that have been connected) will leave you in awe. Original woodcarvings and frescoes from Austrian artist Rudolf Hermann Eisenmenger found on the fourth-floor lounge area are particularly striking.”
The Telegraph adds, “Made up of four grand, 19th-century houses, the hotel’s original features include grand staircases, parquet flooring, walnut wall-paneling, ornate fireplaces and frescoed or inlaid ceilings enhanced by gilt mirrors and chandeliers. The large reception area is marble floored, while public areas are relaxing, with comfortable high-back chairs and tropical hard-wood furniture. A basement Guerlain spa comprises gym, sauna and steam baths, plus 18-metre pool with underwater lighting and music. The hotel attracts a mix of well-heeled families, sight-seeing couples, business travelers and the international jet set.”
Two-Bedroom Presidential Suite
The 2,800-sq.ft. Two-Bedroom Presidential Suite features high ceilings, a fireplace and open bar in the living room, custom furnishings from Hermes, dining table with seating for up to 8 guests.

5. Palais Hansen Kempinski Vienna
The Telegraph writes, “A polished example of how history and modernity can gracefully coincide. The beating heart of this orange-hued Viennese palais, located just inside the Ringstrasse, is the glossy lobby-lounge, where guests can be found enjoying loose-leaf tea and warm apfelstrudel to the rustling of newspapers and quiet lull of jazz…The heritage-listed palais, which is named after one of its architects, Theophil Edvard Hansen (mastermind behind Parliament and the ancient Stock Building, among others), dates back to the late 1800s. While historical 19th-century features (high ceilings, original columns and wrought-iron staircase banisters) herald the building's past, interiors have harnessed the 21st century through the use of glass atriums and contemporary artworks.”
Presidential Suite
The 3,444-sq.ft. features a separate dining room, private kitchenette and an office area with a spacious deck. In addition to the lounge area with a wall filled with real green plants and a Bösendorf piano, and a a luxurious bathroom in white and black marble with a view over the Ringstrasse.
6. Grand Hotel Wien
Forbes Travel Guide inspectors say, “When Grand Hotel Wien debuted in 1870, it was Vienna’s first luxury hotel and quickly became its social center. Waltz king Johann Strauss even commemorated his 50-year jubilee here in 1894. Although the hotel later was converted to the headquarters for the International Atomic Energy Agency, it has been restored to its original grandeur. The lobby, for example, is teeming with marble, chandeliers, columns, and an ornate staircase. You could imagine Strauss strolling through the opulent halls. Of course, there have been modern upgrades. Choose from five restaurants, including the celebrated Le Ciel by Toni Mörwald, a quality Arabic eatery, a rooftop Japanese spot and a modern sushi bar. Grand Spa No. 605 does LED therapy, along with Valmont facials.”
Presidential Suite
The 2,550-sq.ft. Presidential Suites offers a magnificent view on the famous Ringstrasse, a spacious living room, large bedroom with a canopy bed, an elegant dining room for up to 8 guests, a study and a marbled bathroom with an integrated whirlpool in the bathtub and a separate shower and a bidet. The centerpiece is the dining room with an open fireplace and a balcony with view on the famous Ringstrasse. The fully equipped kitchen is meant for private use or for the preparation of the in-suite dining service. With the addition of a connecting Junior Suite, this suite can be converted into a two-bedroom Presidential Suite boasting over 3,000-sq.ft. of space.

7. Hotel Bristol, a Luxury Collection Hotel
Forbes Travel Guide inspectors say, “The oldest of Vienna’s grand dames, Hotel Bristol, A Luxury Collection Hotel boasts a prime location overlooking the city’s famous Vienna State Opera house. Littered with antique furniture and authentic art deco touches, there’s nowhere else more classically Viennese to stay. The opulent rooms take you back in time to when the hotel first opened its doors in 1892 with rich fabrics, fireplaces and crystal accents — some of the suites even boast sparkling chandeliers. But this historic grand dame doesn't stay stuck in the past. A well-equipped fitness center offers Excite and Technogym equipment. The Bristol Lounge serves vegan options at every meal.”
Prince of Wales Suite
The 2,798-sq.ft. Prince of Wales Suite includes a private gym, library, dining room, study and living room can be extended by connecting doors to include two additional bedrooms.

8. Do & Co Hotel Vienna
The Telegraph writes, “Just wow, with dress-circle views of the historic center’s main square, Stephansplatz, and its crowning glory Gothic cathedral, the spire of which feels close enough to reach out and touch…Do & Co lodges in the eye-catching, one-of-a-kind Haas Haus, designed by Pritzker-prize winning architect Hans Hollein in 1990. The glass façade reflects St Stephen's Cathedral and stands in stark contrast to the traditional architecture surrounding it. The luxe interiors are contemporary and curvaceous, with dark, sexy corridors, subtle lighting, and lots of hammered silver, glass, leather, onyx and polished teak. Best of all are the floor-to-ceiling windows that play up the incredible wraparound views of the city. A lift whisks you up to the small reception area on the sixth floor.”
Dome Suite
The 753-sq.ft. Dome Suite features two terraces with views to the St. Stephens Cathedral and city at your doorstep.

Inside the 19th-century neoclassical structure, you’ll find a blend of sleek glass-plated surfaces and bars, artfully combined with the historic wine cellars, Renaissance-era city walls and imperial architecture from the former palace of Prince Ferdinand von Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. Head to the rooftop to indulge in the spa, which includes a whirlpool, a sauna, a steam bath, a pool and a sprawling sun terrace.
