After more than 10 years in the radio industry, the majority of which were spent as part of the Metro FM family, long-time presenter and one part of the Kings of the Weekend Lebohang Naves - known to listeners as DJ Naves - is leaving the station. He will host his last show on 27 January. DJ Naves made the announcement of his departure on Thursday, sharing it on his Instagram timeline accompanied by a highlight reel of his moments at the station. He and his long-time friend and business partner Sphe Ngwenya, popularly known as DJ Sphectacula, have been presenting the Saturday slot called Kings of The Weekend from 19:00 to 22:00. The SABC confirmed DJ Naves' departure to News24 on Friday . "The SABC can confirm that DJ Naves will be leaving Metro FM at the end of January and the station wishes him all the best in his future endeavours. In the post, DJ Naves expressed his gratitude for the time spent at Metro FM which saw him host a variety of shows like The Preparty , The Kings Suite , and Kings of The Weekend . "As the legendary @tboseza once said, 'The best radio education is from the SABC. If you've been there, there's nothing you can't handle'. I'm really grateful for that. Big thanks to Metro FM for that amazing journey. "Change is always there and it's time. I'm not scared of it. It's a new start, a chance to learn, and a time to create on a fresh slate. "My chapter at Metro FM ends on 27 January 2024. I'm so thankful for the experiences, opportunities, and the incredible people I've worked with - some of whom have become lifelong friends." He shared his excitement for his next venture, telling his followers he would share those plans with them. "I'm pumped for the next adventure and the next parts of the #KOTW journey that I'll soon share with you." The duo previously left the station together but there has never been a time where one left the other behind.
