James Martin reveals wedding cooking mishap
TV chef James Martin was still harbouring a lot of guilt over a huge kitchen mistake that he'd made years ago and wanted to offer up his apologies on his ITV show.
During his latest episode on Saturday morning (January 4), the famous cook confessed that he'd once "ruined somebody's wedding" after he made a massive blunder while working at the Park Lane hotel.
The incident took place nearly four decades ago but James was still feeling "horrific" about the incident even to this very day.
His admission came about during a questions and answers session on the show; a member of the public wrote in to explain they had a huge accident in the kitchen and wanted to know if the chefs had also suffered any red-faced moments.
James read out the question on-air: "Got another one here, Matt from Cumbria had a big accident in the kitchen with an explosive pressure cooker," he asked his fellow cook experts: "What is the biggest mess up you've ever had in the kitchen?"
Both chefs who joined the programme, Galton Blackiston and Tommy Banks, sighed as James stepped in to offer up his own blunder as support.
He said: "I was getting fahrenheit and centigrade wrong when I was about 14-years-old in the Park Lane hotel and I burnt eight-hundred portions of apple-tart."
The TV star went on to admit: "It was for somebody's wedding so I do apologise if you're watching, it was me. I am sorry." Knowing they couldn't stop his huge mistake Tommy and Galton both chimed in with "oohhh" as they remained silent.
"It was pretty horrific," confessed James.
