Emmerdale's Beth Cordingly, who plays Ruby Fox-Miligan, received support from fans after revealing a 'painful lump' on her mouth caused by her pet cat.
The 48-year-old actress shared a black-and-white selfie on Instagram, showing off the 'annoying' injury and her new pair of glasses.
Beth penned: "Keep losing my glasses. So I bought some bigger ones. (SideNote: yes. There is a lump on the LHS of my mouth. My cat did it. Granted, my face DOES actually have lump type things either side of my mouth anyway - they’re hereditary.
"But my cat has scratched my face again - which he does in moments of extreme affection (we’re all mad here). And now it has swollen up into an annoying, mildly painful lump that I’m hoping will go down with some…savlon….?
"@iankelseyofficial has suggested I add some cotton wool to the rhs side of my mouth. When in doubt...Marlon Brando, I guess", reports Leeds Live.
Responding in the comments section, one person said: "Ouch. Be careful as cat scratches can get infected hun. Xxx", a different account wrote: "Ah no Beth hope it's not infected, when I had a cat he was always scratching me with love. Warm water and salt is as good as anything for the swelling" while a different fan added: "Be careful you may have an infection x!"
It comes as Beth's character Ruby is set to take centre stage this week in a special episode. Only recently, Ruby has been left stunned by the sudden arrival of her estranged daughter Stephanie and father Anthony.
Since their reunion, Ruby has been visibly uneasy around her father, leading viewers to suspect a dark past between them.
This week, the popular ITV soap will air a special flashback episode to 1992, revealing Ruby's history. Ahead of this one-off episode, hints about Ruby's past were dropped on Friday.
In the latest episode, Anthony continued to make Ruby uncomfortable by bringing up a new character named Rob, who he revealed was an acquaintance from her teenage years.
Ruby clearly felt uneasy at the mention, especially when Anthony seemed to suggest a significant revelation. He asked if they were still in contact, to which Ruby insisted they hadn't spoken in years as she tried to end the conversation.
However, Anthony said: "You two were so close growing up, I just wondered what he was up to now. It's a shame – your mother and I always assumed that Rob was Stephanie's father" to which Ruby was left stunned by her estranged father's remark.
Emmerdale airs every weekday at 19.30pm on ITV1, ITV X, STV and STV Player with an hour-long episode on Thursdays. It is also available each morning from 07.00am on ITVX.
