Lorraine apologies after her phone goes off during show
Mid-conversation on her morning show, Lorraine Kelly found herself having to issue an apology to viewers after the live broadcast was "rudely interrupted" by an intrusive sound.
The popular ITV host was deep in discussion with her entertainment correspondent Rishi Davda about the latest TV programmes, including Holly Willoughby's adventure show and its similarities to I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, when an unexpected chime was heard, reports the Daily Record.
Rishi, putting aside the first disturbance, dived into celebrity speculation for Holly's new series, suggesting names like: "Strictly's Shirley Ballas potentially, Mel B and also Inbetweeners star Joe Thomas," all being rumoured to take part. However, he was cut off not once, but several times by the persistent ping of a text message notification.
Finally, Lorraine realised the source of the noise her own phone, swiftly silencing it. The red-faced presenter couldn't help but fess up to the blunder, humorously explaining to viewers: "Sorry my phone's pinging and it's me."
She quipped with a laugh: "Oh look it's George Clooney again, I've told him 'George, don't bother me when I'm at work'."
The playful banter continued with Rishi asking: "Is he running late again for today's episode?" as Lorraine cheekily retorted, "He says I watch it on catch up," before offering a sincere: "Sorry about that," to the audience.
During her show, Lorraine Kelly made a surprise exit from her set to join the This Morning team, where Ben Shephard was toasting his 50th birthday with a bubbly treat alongside co-host Cat Deeley.
Keen to deliver personal congratulations on such a momentous occasion, the Scottish presenter popped over to greet the Tipping Point host and present him with a unique gift featuring a retro photo of them together.
As Lorraine handed over the cushion, she playfully ribbed Ben, wishing him a happy "21st birthday". The banter didn't stop there as Ben jovially claimed he's now of age to join Lorraine on a Saga Cruise, though he cheekily expressed a preference for an 18-30s getaway.
Quick-witted Lorraine didn't miss a beat, teasing the birthday boy on This Morning: "I don't think so, you'd never get away with it."
Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV1, from 9am
