GMB's Richard Madeley says wife Judy did not notice his beard
Good Morning Britain host Richard Madeley revealed that his wife Judy Finnigan was oblivious to his recent change in appearance. The topic arose during a discussion about Donald Trump's remarks concerning Prince William.
After airing footage of the pair in Paris, Susanna Reid noted an increased interest in beard transplants, attributing it to Prince William's fresh look. She quipped: "Although on this programme we know it's because of Richard Madeley!"
When questioned if he had donated his own beard, sported on Monday's show, Richard chuckled and admitted it went "straight down the plug hole".
GMB contrinutor Andrew Pierce shared his opinion that while the facial hair suited Prince William, it didn't quite work for the GMB presenter. Susanna jested: "Richard's beard didn't grow on Andrew. I have to say, a number of people said to me yesterday, that they hadn't noticed it."

Amidst the laughter, Richard revealed his beard had only been growing for 10 days. When asked if his wife had noticed its absence, he responded: "We had lunch out yesterday and a very nice lady came up, she was talking about it and said 'I voted you should keep it! '. Judy said, 'What's she talking about? ' So no, she didn't notice, never mind," reports the Mirror.
Andrew couldn't resist a cheeky quip, jesting: "Right, says a lot about your marriage Richard!" At the week's outset, Richard's beard became the hot topic on Good Morning Britain, with the show's Twitter even running a poll about its fate.
The audience was asked if Richard should keep his facial fuzz, and an overwhelming 66.3% voted for its removal, leading to an on-air shave during a commercial break. Heeding the call of viewers, Richard was shown in the dressing room, bidding farewell to his beard.
Susanna couldn't help but tease: "Do you want to come back into the studio then and carry on doing your job?" Re-entering the studio, patting his freshly shaven face, Richard remarked: "You can't put it out there and ask people what they want you do to when you're a guest in their homes at breakfast time. If they don't like it, you have to go with it."
The beard saga sparked lively reactions, with one viewer enthusing: "I am absolutely loving the new beard growing, stick with it Richard, it will look very distinguished."
Another complimented: "Very handsome man looks great Richard for his age @richardm56" Yet, not all were fans, as one tweet read: "Looks like the public wins again-good call!"
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV from 6am.
