During Tuesday's episode of Good Morning Britain, Susanna Reid delivered some breaking news to viewers that has developed over the past few hours. The ITV presenter confirmed that a 26 year old man has been charged with the murder of health insurance company boss Brian Thompson in the US.
The CEO was gunned down in New York last week, sparking a massive manhunt for the murderer. Providing further details, Richard Madeley informed viewers: "The suspect is 26-year-old Luigi Mangione. He was arrested at a McDonalds restaurant nearly 300 miles away from the crime scene."
Richard then passed the segment to Good Morning Britain's North America correspondent Noel Phillips, who was broadcasting live from New York. Richard asked: "Noel, this was an incredibly dramatic arrest, wasn't it? What more can you tell us about the man?" reports the Mirror.
The US correspondent replied, explaining: "In the last two hours or so, we've seen people coming here and taking photographs and that is because behind me is the very spot where Brian Thompson was shot dead in broad daylight.
"Police say the gun was found on the suspect, which they believe was the very same weapon used here. He also had a handwritten manifesto detailing his hatred and anger for health insurance companies."

Video footage was then played to ITV viewers, showing Luigi being led into a courthouse overnight. Mangione is the suspect who is being charged with the murder of father of two and CEO Brian Thompson, after he was killed last Wednesday in Manhattan.
Noel added that those who know the suspect are in disbelief. His family released a statement this morning on the matter Nino Mangione saying: “We only know what we have read in the media.
“Our family is shocked and devastated by Luigi’s arrest. We offer our prayers to the family of Brian Thompson, and we ask people to pray for all involved. We are devastated by this news. The Mangione Family."

Susanna went on to explain that she had read the comments on a news article about the news earlier in the day and was shocked at what people were saying.
The ITV host explained: "In this case, so many of the comments are, 'I was denied health insurance or my mother was denied health insurance'. What this has unleashed is, we have to say a huge amount firstly for Brian Thompson's family.
"It's almost overshadowed by this outpouring of 'I feel there is an injustice' people are saying, in the private health care system. Which is kind of is at risk of lionising and making a hero of the person who has killed him."
