Beyond Paradise star Kris Marshall has promised fans a riveting "emotional rollercoaster" involving Humphrey and Martha.
Eager viewers can anticipate a festive treat as the BBC show gears up for a Christmas special, with even more drama following in a new series come the New Year. A twist in the tale sees Humphrey Goodman and his companion Martha Lloyd embarking on the journey of fostering, where they take on a teen named Aiden.
Delving into his character's storyline, Kris revealed that fostering spells an "emotional rollercoaster" for Humphrey and Martha, hinting at upcoming drama for the pair.
Reflecting on the storyline, he said: "So far, the only foster placement Humphrey and Martha have had was a young boy called Ryan, who was cheeky, energetic, and relatively easy to look after - but that was just a short-term placement.
"Every child is different, and fostering is an emotional rollercoaster. Each placement brings its unique challenges, and Martha and Humphrey face them together. While Humphrey is supportive and involved, most of the parenting tends to fall on Martha's shoulders. But Humphrey does find the whole fostering experience deeply rewarding."

In news sure to delight fans, Kris slipped out a spoiler - revealed they had finished filming the 2025 Christmas special.
He told Virgin Radio UK: "We've actually just finished filming Christmas 2025. So I'm actually one Christmas ahead. [We finished] literally last Friday, last week," adding: "Filmed the third series as well... I may have dropped a spoiler that I'm not supposed to. There are murders in series three. There's another spoiler!"
Kris Marshall will return to the show alongside Sally Bretton. The Christmas special will air on Friday, December 27th, at 9pm on BBC One, with Jamie Bamber and other familiar faces expected to make a comeback.
The plot for the festive episode has been teased as follows: "Whilst home alone watching family videos, Bob encounters a surprise visitor - his late wife's ghost, Linda, who has a haunting demand: get out.
"When there’s a second unsettling encounter and writing on a mirror, Humphrey and the team are called in to investigate. Esther is deeply sceptical, but Humphrey is more than happy to dive into his first haunting. Surely there’s a rational explanation?"
