BBC Breakfast issues update on Gregg Wallace
A BBC Breakfast star addressed a cruel jibe made about her appearance, with fans of the programme quickly jumping to her defence.
Today's broadcast (December 1) saw Luxmy Gopal co-hosting from the iconic red sofa, alongside Ben Thompson. The pair had made a subtle nod to the December date with Ben sporting a seasonal red tie, and Luxmy donning a sumptuous pleated purple dress.
But just minutes into the show, Luxmy shared on her social media account that she had received a negative comment about her choice of attire. She disclosed that somebody had likened her outfit to "the Quality Street purple one."
In a post to X, formerly Twitter, she wrote: "Good morning from me and Ben Thompson on BBC Breakfast. Him in a festive red tie, me looking like the Quality Streeet purple one as someone pointed out."
Given the BBC anchor's use of a laughing emoji after the chocolate jibe, it seems it was taken in a light-hearted manner.

However, it didn't stop BBC viewers flocking to the comments underneath to offer their support to the presenter, with many offering words of encouragement.
"A Quality Street vibe is always a win! Hope you both have a brilliant day on BBC Breakfast," one kind viewer said. The comment caught the attention of Luxmy as she replied: "Thank you for watching and hope you have a lovely day too!".
Another viewer said the star looked "fabulous as ever", while another shared: "Yes the Quality Street dress and you both quality as usual. Don't forget your advent calendar have a good rest of day."
"The purple Quality Street is everyone’s favourite Luxmy," teased one show fan, as Luxmy agreed it was "objectively the best one".
Meanwhile one watcher called out the "harsh" remark, writing: "That’s rather harsh for a Sunday morning!" as another viewer gushed: "Yes but even if you were dressed in a black bin liner, you could still pull it off. You've always look amazing in all your outfits [sic]."
