SK: James Martin clashes with guests over onion gravy

Viewers tuning into James Martin's Saturday Morning today (November 30) were left stunned after hearing one of the guests let slip a swear word live-on air.

Joining host James Martin on the cooking show were singers Michael Ball and Alfie Boe, Gareth Ward, Alysia Vasey and one half of the Hairy Bikers, Si King.

The show began smoothly, with Gareth prepping a luxurious caviar dish with oyster and scallop, with Si up next showcasing his Thai pot roast chicken.

As the star began making the dish, he recounted the tale of how he met his Hairy Bikers co-star and friend, the late Dave Myers.

"We met on the set of a Catherine Cookson drama," he began, before James pressed him about a story he had heard that they met properly at a "dodgy bike sale".

"I did yeah, I took advantage of his good nature and he never let us forget it you know," Si said, before letting slip a swear word. "He'd always go you still owe us £500 you thieving g**."

The blunder appeared to have gone unnoticed by host James and the other show guests, as Si swiftly moved on to applying olive oil to his chicken and the other guests praised the lovely smell emanating from the kitchen. The programme continued on without a further hitch.

"You can't have imagined that you two meeting over a dodgy bike sale would the lead to 20 years of some of the most iconic cooking programmes?" James asked.

"Thank you James, no!" Si replied. "It continued to be a complete surprise to us. We worked out we did 650,000 miles together on a motorcycle, that's nearly five times round the world."

Broadcasting regulator Ofcom considers "g**" only a mild swear word, categorised as such after interviews with the UK public on what they found to be offensive.

James Martin's Saturday Morning airs on ITV every Saturday
