TM: Ben Shephard talks about new ITV show 'The Summit'
Ben Shephard is set to host a thrilling new series poised to compete with the BBC's hit show Race Across The World.
ITV has announced a new show called The Summit, an adventure reality series that will pit 14 intrepid strangers against the daunting challenge of scaling a mountain in New Zealand's Alps on the south island.
With a share of the hefty £200,000 prize at stake, the contestants must brave the harsh elements and collaborate strategically over a gruelling two-week period to reach the summit, all while carrying their share of the cash in their backpacks. A cryptic figure known as the Mountain's Keeper will be on hand to throw down gauntlets and obstacles as they ascend towards the peak.
But it's not just a physical battle; mental prowess and tactical alliances are key, as participants must also vote out their peers in a bid to remain in the competition. Friendships will be formed, trust will be tested, and betrayals may ensue as they vie for victory.
Who will have the strength and cunning to emerge victorious and claim their slice of the prize?

Sharing his excitement about the series, Ben said: "This series really has got it all; the contestants are going to be tested in every possible way as they try and take on the mountain. They'll need a serious amount of grit, determination and strategy if they want to reach The Summit.
"Most people know how much I love exercise and adventure but this is taking it to another level - I'll be donning my mountain gear to check in with them as they battle up the mountain and do their best to combat the demands of the ominous Mountain's Keeper. I can't wait to see how they get on because anyone who reaches The Summit will have seriously earned every penny of the prize fund."
Paul Mortimer, ITV Director of Reality Commissioning and Acquisitions, added: "Not only is this a huge and complex endurance test for the contestants, overseen by the wonderful Ben Shephard, it's going to be an absolute nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat watch for viewers at home. Filled with cliffhangers, shocks, twists and turns it's going to keep people guessing from the very first step of the trek to that final summit."
*The Summit will air on ITV1 and ITVX in 2025.
