BBC Breakfast host red-faced as he's corrected by co-star
BBC Breakfast hosts Sally Nugent and Jon Kay are renowned for their calm and professional demeanor but they were very much caught off-guard during Tuesday's edition of the show.
After a segment on Prime Minister Keir Starmer, the camera returned to the studio, where the pair were clearly unaware that they were back live on air.
While Jon leaned back on the famous red sofa while appearing to be engrossed by his phone, Sally accidentally showed her list of notes to the camera while returning to the sofa with a cup of tea, reports Hello!
While the presenters usually apologise for technical errors, the problem was soon fixed as the show returned to the segment in question, only for the pair to continue presenting the show as normal when the cameras returned to the studio.
However, the mishap wasn't missed on all of the viewers, with one person sharing a screenshot of the erorr on X, writing: "Ooopsie!!!"
The show also hailed the return of Jon, who has been absent from the BBC Breakfast sofa for a while now while covering the US Election. Sharing snaps from his time in the US, he wrote: "Broadcasting high above the White House with the world’s media, as the USA heads to the polls," while in another post he reflected: "The sun sets on US Election Day 2024 in Washington DC. Whoever wins, history will be made."
And during his comeback on Tuesday Jon let slip some big news on BBC Breakfast, leaving Sally horrified.
Sally and Jon chatted about the biggest news of the day and crossed over to Carol Kirkwood for the weather. Later, Nina Warhurst joined them in the studio to discuss rogue traders.
As they introduced Nina to the show for her segment, Jon left his co-star stunned when he revealed to Sally: "Nina's trying to make me do a half marathon with her," as Sally's face dropped.
"Can't believe you've just mentioned that on air. You've said it on the television now which means you'll have to do it!" she said, as Jon said: "I said trying to persuade me not that I'd do it..."
