Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story official trailer

Coleen Rooney is set to bravely face the depths of the jungle on I’m a Celeb in a matter of days, but she may not be facing the many bushtucker trials that come with it.

The WAG confirmed that she would be one of the new cast members on the reality show at the start of November, and it has been reported that she will be the highest paid star in the history of the whole series.

Despite the enormous paycheck, there is one reason Coleen might be able to get away without participating in some of the more gruelling tests celebrities are usually put through on the show.

Wayne Rooney’s wife struggles with reactive arthritis – which can be triggered by stress.

The condition causes joint inflammation, particularly in the knees, feet, toes, hips, and ankles.

Coleen had a recent flare up of the arthritis during the Wagatha Christie case, where she was taken to court by her former friend Rebekah Vardy for accusing her of leaking information about her private life to the press.

Rebekah sued Coleen for libel, but Coleen went on to win the case, leaving Rebekah tasked with paying 90% of Coleen’s legal fees.

In her Disney+ documentary The Real Wagatha Christie, Coleen claimed this resurgence of her issues with arthritis left her feeling shut off from the outside world as she did not want to be around anyone in that state.

An I’m A Celeb insider told the Sun that executives would be willing to make exceptions for Coleen if she faces health problems in the jungle.

They said: “The duty of care on I’m A Celeb is second to none and over the years the cast have been ruled out of challenges for a string of different reasons.

“Some might have seemed trivial to viewers but the health and happiness of the celebs is of execs’ utmost concern. Coleen’s reactive arthritis being triggered by stress means execs want to wrap her in cotton wool and keep her happy and healthy.

“The condition is currently under control so at this stage it’s a ‘could be’ ruled out rather than a ‘will be’.

“But her physical health will be monitored and, if she suffers a flare-up, her ability to perform each trial will be considered on a case-by-case basis.”

Other well known British figures have previously been ruled out from various trials after being declared medically unfit.

Last year for example, former UKIP leader Nigel Farage was allowed to skip some of the difficult physical activities as he still suffers from injuries he got during a plane crash in 2010.

Rebekah, Coleen’s nemesis herself, was exempt from any fish-based trials due to an allergy when she appeared on I’m a Celeb in 2017.
