The first batch of I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! stars are experiencing flight chaos after a serious lightning storm in Brisbane, reports claim.

McFly hunk Danny Jones and spin-off show hosts Joel Dommett, Sam Thompson and Kemi Rodgers were expected to have already touched down in Oz.

But a terrifying storm has caused a huge delay and it is currently uncertain where the plane will land as rain continues to wreck the county.

Their Singapore Airlines flight was due to land at 8.56pm local time – but Brisbane Airport’s tarmac has been closed due to the terrible weather. Thunder and lightning started cracking shortly after 7pm and heavy rain is set to continue past midnight.

According to The Sun, a tannoy announcement at the airport said the “tarmac is closed which means bags can’t be unloaded.” They claimed it will continue to operate properly once the storm has passed.”

Hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly are already in the country after they touched down in sunnier conditions. They were spotted grabbing a bite to eat at Caba Social cafe on Saturday (November 9).

The Geordie duo are staying at Cabarita Beach, with their families during the show – a far cry away from the gruelling jungle campsite.

Danny looked in high spirits at Heathrow yesterday and has taken his trusty guitar with him Down Under, but he won’t be performing any songs around the campfire.

The musician was drafted into I’m A Celeb as a late placement for Tommy Fury. This means he will be following in the footsteps of his fellow bandmate Dougie Poynter as well as Tom Fletcher’s wife Giovanna – who have both previously won the show.

A jungle insider told The Sun: “As well as bringing some of the star appeal of the group with him, he’ll be supplying some serious guy candy for the campmates and viewers at home.

“All the McFly guys are gym fantastic and Danny in particular has a great physique – which he’s bound to show off in the jungle. He’ll be keeping up with the proud tradition of I’m A Celebrity hunks who’ve been on the show over the years including Owen Warner and Joel Dommett.”

They went on: “And he’ll fill the jungle hunk gap left by Tommy Fury after he declined the opportunity earlier this month.” But Danny is no stranger to ITV reality shows, after he won The Masked Singer disguised as Piranha.

Other names taking part in this year’s series of I’m A Celeb include Coleen Rooney, GK Barry and Coronation Street star Alan Halsall.

I'm a Celebrity return to ITV and ITVX on November 17.
