Coronation Street: DS Swain puts her hand on Carla's arm
ITV fans have been anticipating a new romance for Carla Connor (Played by Alison King) with DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) following Peter Barlow's (Chris Gascoyne)departure from Weatherfield.
Alison, who plays the role of Underworld factory boss Carla, has been gradually moving on from her marriage to Peter Barlow, who left Coronation Street to travel the globe last year.
Carla's marriage was left hanging in the balance after Peter's exit, but she has since met DS Lisa Swain. The detective has been instrumental in bringing Lauren Bolton's (Cait Fitton) attacker and abuser Joel Deering (Calum Lill) to justice, sparking chemistry between her and Carla.
This has led many ITV viewers to hope for a blossoming relationship between the two women. Facing an ABH court hearing next week, Carla receives shocking news from her husband abroad.

Lisa steps in to comfort her, leading to a tender moment that leaves Carla puzzled, reports the Mirror.
In upcoming scenes, both women, known for their strength on the cobbles, will lower their defences and explore their vulnerabilities as a single mother and a divorcee.
However, when a simple touch sparks electricity, Carla is left questioning what she just experienced and whether Lisa feels the same way.
Discussing her character's burgeoning relationship with Lisa Swain, the soap star revealed: "I think Carla's still in shock and she's very much in the moment. There is a real friendship growing between them and the fact that she's come around to check on her really means something to Carla."
Moreover, Lisa's daughter Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) has also played a role in this developing bond after Carla hired the mischievous teenager at the Underworld factory.
She said: "I think because she's taken Betsy on, there's kind of kindred spirit forming. We've seen Lisa have a bad day and Carla being a shoulder to lean on.
"She's got a lot of understanding about how difficult Betsy is, she's just come out of a relationship herself so she understands some of the loss Lisa is feeling after Becky. It's been a long time since Carla has had a female friend, somebody who's actually leaning on her but is also a powerhouse in her own right.
"Now Lisa is there for her, she's leaning on Lisa for the first time and it's becoming quite a confusing friendship. Lisa keeps appearing, she's always there because of that link through Betsy, and there's a bond growing between them that Carla can't quite define."
Alison confessed the friendship has taken her by surprise as Carla can't quite work out what the closeness between them is.
But could this unexpected friendship evolve into something more permanent?
Coronation Street is yet to introduce a lesbian couple that could rival the popularity of Kate Connor and Rana Habeeb. The pair were set to wed before a tragic roof collapse at the Underworld factory resulted in Rana's untimely death in March 2019.
The duo had been firm favourites among fans of the Manchester-set soap.
Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV from 8pm.
