Antiques Road Trip expert admits 'I might cry'

Antiques Road Trip took a devastating turn for Irita Marriott as she went up against co-star Ishy Khan.

The pair both had £200 in their pocket to try and find a bargain and then sell it at auction for a profit on the BBC show, and despite Irita winning overall, she was left in utter shock over the value of one item.

As she sat in the chair waiting for the auctioneer to put the porcelein shell cup and saucer up on the market, she couldn't contain her excitement.

Looking at her co-star Ishy she said: "If this makes less than £200 I seriously might cry."

And she knew she was off to a poor start when the bidding started at a measley £5.

Things appeared to get worse as the auctioneer then read out £25 before slamming the hammer down.

Not only did Irita face a loss of £5, but the item went for £175 less than the minimum she was anticipating. Irita immediately turned to her co-star and asked: "Did that just happen?"

But while she was on a bad run with the cup and saucer, some of her other items managed to either break even or fetch a little over the amount.

However, due to auction costs and a loss in sale, both of them failed to make even a penny of profit.

Ishy's grand total came to £164.82p, while Irita came in at £188.60p.

So while both of them lost out on money, Irita still came out on top and has won three auctions on their trip, while Ishy won just two.

As the week of auctions came to an end, the pair said they were "gutted" to go their separate ways.
