A Very Royal Scandal: Official trailer on Prime Video with Michael Sheen
Today, Amazon Prime released its brand new drama, A Very Royal Scandal, which revisits Prince Andrew's infamous Newsnight interview with former BBC journalist, Emily Maitlis. While plenty of people are already praising Michael Sheen and Ruth Wilson for their performances as the Duke and interviewer respectively, others have been left frustrated.
The main gripe from Amazon Prime viewers is they’ve found the drama incredibly difficult to locate on the platform. Indeed, when you type A Very Royal Scandal into the Prime Video search bar, the title does not appear to show up.
Instead, a 2001 Sherlock Holmes film called The Royal Scandal appears at the top of Amazon’s list. However, this is because the three-part drama is part of a wider series called A Very English Scandal.
The dramatisation of the notorious Prince Andrew interview is therefore technically a third season, as it is the latest instalment in Amazon's Scandal series, previously co-produced with the BBC. Unlike A Very British Scandal and A Very English Scandal, however, the BBC is not involved in this separate season.
Today, confused fans took to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, to ask if the show had been released yet. One annoyed viewer wrote: "A Very Royal Scandal is on Prime Video but we are forced to hunt for it. It does not come up in search!”
They then added: “Latest depiction of #PrinceAndrew and #JefferyEpstein's relationship has been released on @PrimeVideo but not easily searchable for some reason...
“But all 3 episodes are there if you scroll through!” (sic)
Meanwhile, another social media user asked: “Americans! Where is A Very Royal Scandal? I can’t find it.”
Another perplexed viewer tweeted: “Hi @AmazonUK why don't I have A Very Royal Scandal on my Prime? I understand it was released at 0800 BST. Thanks!” (sic)
Another baffled person wrote: “I've been searching for A Very Royal Scandal for hours now but all that is available to me, despite having a prime video subscription is the 2018 series A Very English Scandal.
“Does anyone know if we have to subscribe to some super prime subscription or something to watch it?”
