Luke was crowned the winner of this year’s series of Great British Sewing Bee after the judges were stunned by some “pretty spectacular” dresses.

The final of the hit BBC One series tonight (Wednesday, July 24) saw Pascha, Luke, and Ailsa face a series of challenges, including crafting opera gloves and transforming party paraphernalia into a complete party look.

After some tricky challenges, judges felt that Luke and Pascha were the frontrunners ahead of the final Made to Measure task. This challenge saw the trio create stunning outfits by draping fabric onto their models.

Luke had already come up trumps with his stunning pair of opera gloves, while Pascha impressed judges Patrick Grant and Esme Young with her party dress.

But Luke was crowned the winner after beating Pascha and Ailsa in the final. They were awarded the coveted trophy and title of Britain's Best Amateur Sewer.

Luke, who works as a diversity, equality and inclusion director, burst into tears when they were told they were the winner.

They said: “This doesn’t feel real. Never did I think I would get close to the final. This is just wild.”

Holding the “campest trophy ever”, Luke said they were “so proud of myself”

Reacting to the news, judge Esme Young said: “I’m really happy that Luke won. They were so creative and imaginative and got better and better.”

Luke is the tenth winner of the series, following ten thrilling seasons. In an epilogue at the end of the series, it was revealed that Luke celebrated his Sewing Bee crown with a holiday to Gran Canaria with their fiance Jesus where they booked their wedding.

The judges were blown away by the “pretty spectacular” and “exciting” evening wear and felt they made “three amazing made to measures”.

The BBC series has been a hit with audiences since its debut in April 2013, attracting millions of viewers each week.
