Netflix's Stranger Things season 5: Lead character 'most likely to die' unveiled

A gambling expert has unveiled their predictions about which primary character from Stranger Things is likely to meet their end in the much-awaited season 5.

In anticipation of the final season, betting site SportsCasting.com has compiled and scrutinised the odds for the climactic conclusion of this heavily-loved Netflix original.

In season four, viewers saw the heartbreaking demise of Eddie Munson, portrayed by Joseph Quinn, whilst Max Mayfield, brought to life by Sadie Sink, barely held on to life, ending up in a comatose state.

Given the show's history of not backing down from sacrificing its young protagonists for plot advancement, fans will undoubtedly be dreading the fate of their preferred characters in the upcoming season, including audience favourites - Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Jim Hopper (David Harbour) and Steve Harrington (Joe Keery).

However, the betting site has pin-pointed one character out of the lot as the most susceptible to face the grim reaper ahead of the series' grand finale, sharing their insights with the Mirror. As per their analysis, Will Byers, played by Noah Schnapp, whose mysterious disappearance triggered the show's plot, could be facing the axe.

While they are nearly certain that Villain Vecna, essayed by Jamie Campbell Bower, with a 99% chance of his death, perhaps it may also spell doom for Will.

Will emerges among the prime contenders likely to die in Stranger Things season five, with odds stacked up at 66.6%.

SportsCasting.com said: "Will was abducted by the Demogorgon in Season 1 and would have died in the Upside Down had it not been for Eleven. Considering his ties to the Upside Down, Will dying in Season 5 would not be shocking."

Another character tipped for a tragic end this season is Eleven herself, with odds of 57.8%.

The site weighed in: "She is another strong candidate to die in the final season. Eleven has cheated death at the end of every season in her battles against creatures from the Upside Down.

"Eleven might have to sacrifice her own life to save her friends in the fight against Vecna."

One character who narrowly escaped death last season was Hopper, but the expert doesn't think he'll be so lucky this time.

With odds of 54.5%, they commented: "Jim Hopper cheated death at the end of Season 3. Hopper seemingly died in an explosion after the gate closed.

"But Hopper survived and ended up in a Russian prison at the start of Season 4. Hopper is definitely not afraid to die. Therefore, he's a prime candidate to risk his life so others may live."

Who from the beloved Stranger Things family will make it through the battle with Vecna? Time will tell.
