McDonald and Dodds were left doing a double take as they spotted a major pop star in the ITV show.
Starring Jason Watkins and Tala Gouveia as DCI Lauren McDonald and DS Dodds, the drama series debuted back in 2020 - and quickly became a hit with fans.
So much so, that on Sunday (July 21) the Bath-based show returned to screens for its brand new fourth series. And for the first two-hour episode, the mismatched police officers investigated the murder of a woman found in a rented flat.
The synopsis for the episode reads: "When McDonald and Dodds discover the body of a woman that's been missing for over 35 years, they are sucked into an investigation that brings them into the dark heart of one of Bath's wealthiest families." What’s more, the murderer has "removed all clues to her identity.”

However, there was one star in the new episode of McDonald and Dodds that got plenty of people talking: Pixie Lott. The noughties singer played Lola Baker in the ITV show.
And it’s fair to say fans were left stunned after realising it was Pixie in McDonald and Dodds. For the recent role, she rocked a shorter hairstyle compared to her pop star days.
On X, formerly known as Twitter, one person said: “Only just clocked the woman in white is Pixie Lott!!” Someone else replied: “Me too,” and a third quipped: “I thought it was!” Meanwhile, another stunned viewer proclaimed: “I didn't recognise Pixie Lott.”

Actress Tala Gouveia previously gushed over Pixie’s stint on the ITV show. Speaking on The One Show, she said: "I Googled before she came on, what was that song I used to listen to, All About Tonight, and I was like, 'don't sing it, don't sing it'. But the last day I was humming it on set."
Speaking about the overall concept of the series, Tala said: "McDonald and Dodds is a detective show set in beautiful Bath and the surrounding areas."
"It's about two detectives from different walks of life, who despite their differences, work together to become an unstoppable team. It has all the things we know and love from classic British detective shows, and has been brought into the modern world in intricate, original stories by writer Robert Murphy."
