Trooping the Colour: Smiling Kate joins Royals in parade
Lorraine Kelly had the perfect reaction to Princess Kate’s first public outing after confirming her cancer diagnosis, describing the Duchess of Cambridge as “absolutely beautiful”.
Speaking to Russell Myers, Royal Editor of the Daily Mirror, the ITV host first discussed Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis’s “beautiful” Father’s Day tribute to Kate’s husband, Prince William.
The family photo, taken by Kate by the seaside, was released on Sunday following the Royal Family’s appearance at Trooping the Colour at Buckingham Palace on Saturday.
Lorraine said: “Great to see Princess Catherine out and about. And looking, I have to say, absolutely beautiful. She looked well! I know she’s not well, but she did look really stunning.”
Kate’s father-in-law, King Charles III, also looked well on his official birthday as he undergoes cancer treatment of his own.
The Royal Family, which also included Queen Camilla, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh and Lady Louise Windsor, watched the parade from the Buckingham Palace balcony.
The Duchess of Cambridge, looked radiant, smiling throughout in an elegant white dress which Lorraine likened to Audrey Hepburn’s look in My Fair Lady.

“Audrey’s hat was slightly bigger than the Princess of Wales,” Lorraine quipped.
“And, also, she’s recycled it. She’s worn that before.”
“There’s absolutely some family unity going on,” Russell remarked about the pictures of Kate next to the King. “Some really testing times for both of them.”
“And there were beautiful photos of her and William as well,” Lorraine added.
“It was almost as if he was just checking in on her, checking in to say ‘Are you OK?’ He’s obviously very protective of her.
However, the presenter also admitted some concerns with the Royals’ health, commenting: “I thought Charles looked a wee bit frail, to be honest.
“Kate looked gorgeous but she’s tiny. I mean, she’s always been tiny. But she’s doing well.”
