Presenter and chef Jimmy Doherty has opened up on his home farm life as he gears up to use it as a hub for his new ITV show - Jimmy and Shivi's Farmhouse Breakfast.

The farmer is teaming up with ITV’s Garraway’s Good Stuff resident TV chef, Shivi Ramoutar, as they bring a show packed with food, family and lifestyle. It will be filmed from the barn on Jimmy’s thriving family farm in the beautiful Suffolk countryside, Farmhouse Breakfast HQ, for 11 weeks starting from June 30.

Teasing what to expect on the show, Jimmy told Express.co.uk: "It's gonna knock your socks off, and it's gonna brighten your Sunday morning for 11 weeks. We've been asked to describe this a number of times and Shiv and I were saying what is it? What is the real crux of it? And it's just a celebration of all good things in the countryside.

"Everything to do with great food, really good cocktails, amazing guests, fantastic chat, loads of amazing animals and insights into great amazing little fun things to do. From whittling spoons, making baskets and terrariums… You name it."

He explained the format of the show, as he added: "It's all filmed under a barn and we've got this lovely bar, and we cook for them [the celebrity guests] and we serve them drinks. They take part in various activities. And then the other aspect of the show is Shiv goes off and meets some amazing producers around the county of Suffolk.

"And then for me it's taking you around the farm and meeting some of our residents and the animals that we have. Everything from our cattle, our rare-breed sheep and pigs."

What animals does Jimmy Doherty own on his home farm?

Jimmy explained that his farm is somewhat unique as it features a number of unusual animals. From polar bears to monkeys, it sounds like his home is more of a zoo.

He said: "And then you've got the wildlife park where we've got polar bears, we've got monkeys, we've got our anteaters. So we do different activities with them.

"One morning we played hide and seek with our monkeys. We hid all their food around and they had to go and find it. And I remember that for the camera system, it took him about 15 minutes trying to get the GoPro in this special box and tighten it all up. It took the monkey about five seconds to undo or and grab the camera, bite it and run off with it. But we've got some brilliant monkey selfies!"

How big is Jimmy Doherty's farm?

The TV chef described the interaction as “wholesome chaos” and explained that was what the show was all about. Touching more on keeping polar bears on his land, Jimmy explained: “We have Europe's largest polar bear reserve on the farm. We started off by rescuing one polar bear but now we have three polar bears.

“We also rescued a brown bear and we're looking at rescuing some other animals as well. So we have over 100 different species on the farm which spans over 70 acres. That is what's important for us, that the bears and the wolves have huge areas to roam.”

Jimmy added that he also makes extravagant dishes for his polar bears, as well as people. He said: “We make them ice lollies. We had to use gravy buckets and fill it with everything that the polar bear likes, from fish to iceberg lettuce and carrots and all sorts. We froze them overnight and they turned out as these massive ice sand castles which the bears loved.”

Jimmy and Shivi's Farmhouse Breakfast airs on ITV from June 30
