Casualty has released the gripping new trailer for the next storyline on the long-running BBC medical drama. Entitled Storm Damage the 12-episode story arc will see Barney Walsh's character Cam Mickelthwaite take centre stage when it begins this Saturday night (June 15). He features heavily in the trailer and is tearful in many scenes.

The title of the storyline isn't just a metaphor for what the characters are going through. The episodes also deal with the aftermath of a city-wide flash flood that sees Holby ED stretched to its limits in the coming weeks.

Cam and Siobhan McKenzie (Melanie Hill) find themselves facing their most traumatic shift ever after being caught in the storm. The aftermath leaves Cam questioning whether the chaos of the ED is for him and in the trailer he is heard saying "I can't be here any more".

When a face from his past Jamie Cleveland, played by former Emmerdale star Ryan Hawley, arrives at Holby he is left with no choice but to confront his past.

This storyline will give fans a huge insight into the character of Cam, who joined the show in April last year. Until now nothing much has been known about his background other than his family is well off but these upcoming episodes will rectify that.

Also facing turmoil in this storyline is fan favourite Stevie Nash (Elinor Lawless) who catches the eye of firefighter Rich (Michael Keogh) while on a call out during the storm. Sparks fly between the pair until she learns something that could prove a deal breaker. While she is seen kissing him in the trailer she is also seen looking distressed while walking in heavy rainfall but is Rich the cause of her upset?

Iain Dean (Michael Stevenson) and Faith Cadogan (Kirsty Mitchell) are loved up again and settling back into family life. Iain is enjoying finding his footing as a father-figure to her son Luka (Tom Mulheron). Throwing himself into work he is seen undertaking a daring underwater rescue in the trailer. However it also shows Iain being beaten up in front of Faith and her son which will have repercussions for them all.

Dylan Keogh (William Beck) is enjoying his job once again following the departure of Patrick Onley (Jamie Glover). However new Psych Liaison Nurse Sophia Peters (Kellie Shirley) rubs him up the wrong way almost immediately leading to awkward tension in the ED.

Siobhan McKenzie is also seen struggling in the trailer and seems to be dealing with everyone else's problems as well as her own. She is heard to say: "This department is a family. Now that doesn't mean that we'll always get on. But it does mean when our backs against the wall. When people come in through that door, people who need us, it means that we pull together."

Elsewhere in the upcoming episodes Jacob Masters (Charles Venn) and Jan Jenning (Di Botcher) are enjoying sharing a home and they juggle their work as paramedics with nursery drop-offs as they care for Jacob’s grandson, Carter.

But they are soon beset by dramas that will leave them struggling to balance the personal and professional as Jacob searches for Carter's father - his son Blake.

Meanwhile, a still fragile Rash Masum (Neet Mohan) acclimates to being back in the ED with his cousinTariq Hussein (Manpreet Bachu) by his side.

Tariq steps up to be Rash’s rock, but the trailer shows that he appears to be having struggles of his own. Will someone be looking out for him as he has for Rash?

Casualty is on BBC Two at 8.20pm on Saturday June 15 with previous episodes available on BBC iPlayer.
