Jason Manford says Christine Lampard's name should be on screen

Jason Manford has called for Christine Lampard's name to be shown on the titles after she replaced Lorraine Kelly on her show today. While holding the fort on Friday's edition, Christine caught up with the comedian to discuss his latest tour and where it all began for him.

At the end of the discussion, the stand-in host, 45, thanked him for his time and said chatting to him has been "lovely as always". In response, he said their chat was "so nice" and went on to suggest that Lorraine's name across the studio screen should be changed to hers.

"It needs to say Christine on there," the 42-year-old suggested, which seemingly caught Christine off guard. The presenter went on to hesitantly shut down the thought and insisted seeing Lorraine's name was "nice".

In response, Jason suggested a little asterisk with her name could work instead, which she agreed. Christine has stepped in for Lorraine on several occasions in recent times, which has prompted many calls for her to be the permanent host.

On the platform X, one viewer wrote: "#Lorraine Really think Christine should front the show permanently. She is natural, honest and a far better interviewer." Another commented: "Come on Christine."

A third shared: "Please can we keep Christine Lampard on #lorraine? She’s lovely and comes across as competent in the role."

"#lorraine I wonder what Christine thinks when the rolling credits at the start of the programme showing Lorraine beaming at the camera, are shown," a fourth commented.

Reacting to Lorraine's absence, another commented: "Let's join CRISTINE for Lorraine" #Lorraine."

According to an account which tracks Lorraine's attendance, the presenter has hosted 63 episodes out of 94 this year so far, with three of her stand-in hosts covering the others.

The account states that Christine has hosted 19 episodes, while Ranvir Singh has fronted 11 and Louise Minchin has stepped in for one.

Today's episode aside, it's not uncommon for Lorraine to take a break from her show during half terms and on bank holidays.

After the presenter stepped away for a short period of time last year to focus on her debut book, many questioned if she was going to return.

During an interview with Express.co.uk, Lorraine's co-star Tyler West set the record straight on leaving rumours.

Addressing whether this could be a new career path for Lorraine, her co-star Tyler insisted she was staying put but joked he could see her switching from presenting to acting, following her recent prank on Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway.

As part of the duo's Get Out Of Me Ear prank seen on screens in February, the presenter was tasked to misbehave at a John Lewis store.

Amongst the craziness, she roped a member of the public into her shopping spree before going for a ride on a suitcase and falling onto the floor.

Addressing the stint he was a part of behind-the-scenes, Tyler shared: "Her acting on Get Me Out Of Me Ear was so good, it was Oscar-worthy I could tell you, so it doesn't surprise me."

On Lorraine potentially leaving her show, he joked he was "worried" but believes she'd "definitely" tell him if it was in her thoughts.

Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV and ITVX.
