Corrie: Ryan Connor complains he’s ‘bored’ to Alya Nazir
Coronation Street actress Sair Khan, who plays Alya Nazir in the ITV soap, has left the cobbles. On Wednesday night, viewers saw the character get in a taxi as she made her way to the airport.
Her departure comes after Alya was offered a job opportunity in Dublin, which she happily took. The soap star is taking a brief exit from the show as she’s going on maternity leave.
Sair announced on her social media at the start of the year that she’s expecting her first baby in the Spring of 2024 with partner Nathan Chilton. She shared a sweet snap of them looking at one another with her growing bump.
Admitting it had been a "challenging time" for the duo, Sair wrote: “With Nathan’s chondroblastoma surgery on his pelvis. It’s been a long road to recovery and still has many obstacles ahead as we deal with the spread of the tumour to his lungs.
“Life can be difficult and there’ll always be challenges to face but there are also important lessons to be learnt and gifts to be cherished. We’re so excited for the arrival of Baby Chilton in Spring 2024.”
The actress has been part of Coronation Street since 2014 and has recently been growing feelings for her boss Adam Barlow (played by Sam Robertson).
The duo shared a kiss a while ago but Alya was quick to shut Adam down as he tried to flirt with her.
However, on Wednesday night as she said her goodbyes, it seemed as though there was unfinished business between them.
Picking up on the chemistry between them, her grandmother Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King), questioned if there was anyone she was going to miss.

As Yasmeen mentioned her former boss Adam Barlow, Alya brushed off any suggestion of something more happening between them.
She simply told her grandma she’d miss Adam as he’s her friend.
Before she made her departure, she bumped into Adam on the street who gave her a parting gift, a hefty law book.
Later on, Yasmeen said: “There is something going on between you two, isn’t there? Oh come on Alya, I can sense the passion between the both of you!”
Although Alya insisted on not knowing what she was talking about, she told her grandma that if something was happening it no longer was possible as she was leaving.
While driving away from Weatherfield, she opened the book to find he had written “Love Adam” on the inside, causing her to smile at the kind gesture.
When Alya comes back from Dublin will there be a romance on the cards for her and Adam?
