The latest BBC Race Across The World is almost over for another year but one moment on Wednesday’s episode sparked anger from fans.
The series sees five pairs of ordinary people tasked with racing across the globe between pre selected checkpoints without taking a flight, and they can only spend the cost of a plane ticket to travel by bus, train and on foot.
This week, the pairs were tasked with making their way through Thailand as budgets began to dwindle.
In the latest episode of series 4 of the hit BBC show, Isabel, 25, and mum Eugenie 61, are seen butting heads as they have done for the entire race.
Isabel drew criticism from viewers after she called her mum, 61, ‘very old’.
Isabel told viewers: “Mum’s an ogre when she’s not had sleep. Snappy, she’s ridiculously snappy. Mum hates me saying this but she is getting very old. It will be nice to actually be able to know a bit more about her and just be there and know that you’re actually catering for her needs.
“A waterfall is not necessarily my cup of tea but I do think it might be something she needs.”
Viewers were incensed by the moment as they accused Isabel of ‘ageism’.
